A.J. Cook A.J. Cook, the Canadian actor best known for his role as Jennifer Jareau (JJ) as JJ in the films Criminal Minds as well as The Virgin Suicides in 1999 as well as 2003, has also been known for various parts. Her television credits includes Dead Like Me and Tru Calling. She has also appeared in Blood Suckers II and The House Next Door. Cook was brought up by Mike Cook, a teacher, and Sandra Cook who was a psychiatrist, in Whitby. She was raised with her brothers, Angela Nathan and Paul. She is an Mormon and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When she was a little girl, she studied dance, jazz, and tap dance. It was only when she turned 17 that she began acting. She had competed in numerous dancing contests. Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze was her inspiration to become an actor. In the summer of 2001, Cook became engaged to her long-time love Nathan Andersen, whom she attended a film workshop during her time at Utah Valley University. Mekhai Allan Andersen is the couple's son. Born in September of 2008. She currently resides in Los Angeles
